Provincial Building Code Book
Many of the provinces have their own Provincial Building Code book.
It is based on the National Building Code with some modifications or additions to suit the province.
Other provinces adopt the National Building Code directly as their standard.
When purchasing a specific provincial or the National building code, always inquire if any other related document is included or sold separately. This may relate to any modifications or additions to the current building code, which were issued after its publication. Many provinces have separate fire, plumbing and accessibility code books. Also inquire if a specific provincial code book is available for purchase in a CD version.
Check if the specific provincial building code book is in the process of being updated. If a new issue is coming out soon it is worth waiting for its publication.
The following information is by province and lists the locations where a building code for that province is available for purchase.
The NPC (National Plumbing Code), NFC (National Fire Code), NEC (National Electric Code) and the Canadian Electric Code, are listed at the bottom of this page.
